degree. However, I didn't focus on what should've been a big priority for someone who has had a job since I was 20 years old.... SAVING!
If I had been better with saving, I wouldn't have had the need to use credit cards. That is a big bulk of our debt, along with marrying into someone who had $120,000 of student loans after completing college. Credit cards + Student Loans = No.Fun.Whatsoever.
When you hear the word surrogacy, what do you think of?
In very recent years, a number of celebrities have had children with a surrogate. Just this week Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade welcomed a beautiful baby girl via surrogate. Then you have the ever popular Kim Kardashian and Kanye West who have also used a surrogate. But what about Nicole Kidman, Tyra Banks, Elizabeth Banks, Jimmy Fallon and Lucy Liu to name a few more.
Did you know that surrogacy dates back to Bible times? In the Book of Genesis Abraham and Sarah could not bare child. While they did not have fertility doctors, they did have surrogacy. But the most raw form of surrogacy, which is the act of physically making a baby with someone. That's what Abraham and Hagar did. Hagar had a child for Sarah and Abraham to raise as their own.
My mom has recently transitioned from a middle school English teacher to a middle/high school math teacher. She was telling me this "side project" she is doing with her seniors that I absolutely wanted to share with you!
She is helping her students with a budget and paying their bills. I couldn't be more proud of that. My coworkers and I frequently talk about the fact that we never learned this real life stuff in high school or college. Oh man, budgeting can be such a touchy subject for singles who aren't ready to cope with having to make a plan for their money, but even for couples who aren't ready to combine finances. Having a budget will help you now, but more importantly in the future too!
Our decision to downsize is not an easy one, after all, we live in a conservative 2-bedroom, 1,069 square foot apartment that has a somewhat awkward living/dining room floor plan.
Before coming to this decision, I did what I do best...made some lists! A pro vs con, an if we move vs if we stay, how much money we'd save & what we'd put it towards, and a few other ones. They all intermingled with each other, but we did it anyways knowing it helped solidify our decision.
Raise your hand if you have allowed yourself to fall prey to emotional eating?
(**sheepishly raises hand**)
Countless times I have let stress of work get to me where I come home and order a pizza and drink one too many beers. I've gone to work without packing a lunch... I mean, c'mon Kara, that is a recipe for disaster! Can you say drive thru??
So, how can you remove emotional eating from the equation?
